Gleneagles Hotel

A luxury digital experience, reimagined

Role: Senior UI Designer

Project type: Mobile-first website redesign

Blending premium storytelling with performance, I led the mobile-first redesign of Gleneagles’ website — elevating their digital presence while simplifying the booking journey.

The new experience reflected Gleneagles’ luxury positioning while delivering tangible results: mobile traffic grew to 50% of overall visits, booking conversions hit 20%, and the hotel saw a 70% year-over-year uplift in bookings from July to September 2020. A perfect balance of form, function, and finesse.

Project objectives

Prioritise mobile experience

Focus on a mobile-first approach to deliver a seamless, visually appealing, and user-friendly experience for smartphone and tablet users.

Elevate visual storytelling

Highlight the hotel’s luxury and heritage through captivating imagery and immersive visuals, showcasing its amenities and surroundings.

Optimise performance

Improve loading times and responsiveness to ensure a fast and smooth experience on all devices.

Simplify user navigation

Use interactive features and responsive design to create a seamless, immersive experience across devices.

With the heritage of the hotel and its beautiful location in mind — a new website was needed to reflect the luxurious and elegant, yet relaxed and unstuffy identity of Gleneagles.

The Gleneagles Hotel website has been successfully transformed into a mobile-first, visually captivating platform that embodies the hotel’s luxury while delivering an exceptional user experience.

The redesign has successfully attracted a broader audience, driving a 70% year-over-year increase in booking conversions and reinforcing Gleneagles’ position as a top-tier destination in luxury hospitality.

Moreover, the project established a new industry benchmark by improving data capture capabilities and implementing a modular framework. This not only boosted agility in creating new pages but also streamlined the user journey, enhancing both site performance and flexibility.
